Workshops And Classes

Field Workshops

Robert Hansen has taught workshops and classes on location in various exotic locations throughout the southwestern United States and also in a classroom setting in his studio for over 25 years. His commercial photography experience combined with his fine art background, exhibit history, and design work result in a truly memorable and unique teaching experience for each student.

Field workshops include excursions to such diverse locations as Canyon de Chelley, Ute Tribal Park, Lower Antelope Canyon, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and the ancient rock art sites of Little Petroglyph Canyon in Ridgecrest, California. Photography instruction on these trips includes lessons in both digital and film based practices as well as presentations on Indian culture, geology, and the historical lay of the land. Each day a selection of each students images are down-loaded and digitally processed using fine art workflow techniques. Students are encouraged to story-tell with their photography building a series of images or portfolio. After the workshop ends, Robert will design and produce a hard cover book for each student as a fine art portfolio of the trip.

These unique workshop experiences combine the opportunity of photographing in some of the most beautiful and historically significant areas of the Southwest with the ability to process and workup images on location with a master artist resulting in an intensive and highly rewarding learning experience. Each workshop is limited to eight participants.
