I came upon this display of handmade hats and belts in Merida, Yucatan one morning and made this photograph. Needless to say, I had the owner make me a pair of custom sandals as I worked on the composition. He asked if I could give him a few moments. After about twenty minutes he came from the back of his shop with my new sandals. They were beautifully made with hand-worked leather sown onto a retreaded Michelin tire.
