The Ilwaco or Long Beach Lighthouse is nestled in a state park on a 300 foot cliff above the confluence of the Columbia river and the Pacific Ocean in southern Washington.

Deer walked about the grounds as I set up my camera to photograph at dusk. The surf raged below me as the winter storm approached. I selected a #15 yellow filter and made one exposure, timing the light as it slowly turned. My exposure of the 4×5 sheet film was 3 seconds at f-32 minus. The film was processed normally and the print was made on grade 3 paper developed in Amidol.
