Portfolios

Robert Hansen’s fine art photography is exhibited at The Center Gallery, in galleries in Chicago and SantaFe, the Susan Spiritus Gallery in Newport Beach CA, and annually at the Festival of the Arts in Laguna Beach, CA. For this web site, he has selected and organized images from 26 continuous years of work into four major portfolios in addition to the Yucatan Passages book. Of necessity, the images shown here represent only a small fraction of the photographer’s work that is available for sale. Please contact him at the address above for further details.

Landscapes

[View images] These black-and-white images focus on the western and southwestern United States, featuring dramatic weather effects and natural forms. Each gelatin silver print is one of an edition of 100 plus 15 artist’s proofs per negative. Smaller prints are issued in editions of 500 plus 50 artist’s proofs. They are archival processed, dry-mounted and over matted on 4-ply museum rag board. Only the highest quality, silver-rich fiber based printing papers are used to make these prints.

Anasazi

[View images] The Anasazi were an ancient people who lived thousands of years ago in what is now the southwestern United States. The spirit of these early Native Americans continues to walk the land in these isolated canyons. Robert Hansen conducts an annual seven-day Colorado Plateau workshop that allows students of photography, geology, and culture to visit, photograph and learn more about this fascinating area.

Color

[View images] Robert Hansen’s color prints are now produced with state-of-the-art digital processes and archival inks. Still starting with original 4×5 and 8×10 transparencies, these techniques produce qualities of control, subtlety, and clarity in the final image that were simply not possible before. The brilliant, color-rich images are hinge mounted on 4-ply museum rag board and over-matted. Each image is printed in an edition of 100 with 15 artist’s proofs; smaller prints are issued in editions of 500 plus 50 artist’s proofs.

Solarizations

[View images] Solarizations are 8×10 contact prints made on black and white warm-tone paper, chemically altered in the darkroom. These one-of-a-kind prints are fixed and washed to archival standards and dry mounted on 4-ply museum rag board. Although the original prints are not available for sale, these images may be purchased as fine-art reproductions, printed on high-quality watercolor paper.
