Ghosts of centuries past make Mani Monastary a strange and compelling place. On the second floor light streamed in over cobblestone floors worn smooth by more than 450 years of use. I found great pleasure in observing the low-angle winter light illuminating each stone and statue, each silent space. In this magnificent mission, every room and stone seemed to take on an inner glow.
